THE FIRST TEE of Singapore is operated by JAG Foundation Ltd, a non-profit organization and a registered charity in Singapore. It was established in 2003 and began programming in mid-2003. The objective of THE FIRST TEE is to expose youth in Singapore to golf in an affordable and fun way whilst teaching them positive life skills.

Lessons are held either in schools or at driving ranges, and typically consist of two sections--'Golf Skills' and 'Life Skills'. During each session, golf professionals and volunteers work side-by-side to educate children in a holistic manner with special SNAG golf equipment and Life Skills educational tools. Additional activities like Mini-Golf Tournaments or overseas Leadership Camps sponsored by THE FIRST TEE Home Office serve to develop participants' golf and life skills further.

THE FIRST TEE’s Objectives:

    1. Improve the game’s accessibility, thereby making golf more available to all--particularly children.
    2. Teach youth golf and its lessons of character, values and life skills.
    3. Instill in each participant the game’s inherently positive values, such as discipline, integrity, honesty, patience and good sportsmanship.
    4. Develop greater self-esteem, civic responsibility and confidence in participants to broaden their goals in life.
    5. Provide incentives for participants to do well in school (eg financial and technical assistance for higher education)
    6. Encourage family togetherness through the shared love of the game.
